Will the HoodXpress work on aftermarket hoods? YES! The HoodXpress will work on all hoods constructed of steel, aluminum, or fiberglass
Will the product operate with snow or ice on the hood? YES! The HoodXpress has been designed to withstand its life cycle with an additional 50lbs applied to the hood. It is always best to clear as much ice & snow from the hood as possible prior to operation. Hoods will not open manually or with the HoodXpress if the seams are frozen shut.
Is maintenance required? NO! Occasional greasing on the 2 pivot connections on the lift rod and gears will extend the functional life of the unit however.

How is the unit attached to the hood?
Four 5/16" holes need to be drilled in the side of the hood. These are used to attach the hood lift bracket to the inside of the hood. In most cases these bolts will be covered by replacing the name badge. If you do not have a "badge", a stylized "HoodXpress" badge will be provided.
Can I remove the existing springs and cables once the HoodXpress unit is installed? No - this is not recommended.
Will the hood bend or crack given the unit attaches to only one side of the hood? NO! Extensive stress analysis and testing has been performed to ensure the connecting points do not fatigue the hood.
What happens if I have a dead battery?
The unit has a quick release cir-clip at the lift rod connecting point, easily accessible within the wheel well.
Is wiring complicated? NO! The HoodXpress power unit is connected to the alternator (or other 12 volt power source) by attaching a power and ground wire
Do I need to use existing hood latches?
Although the HoodXpress unit secures the hood shut, it is never recommended to remove factory installed latches. Should the operator forget to unlatch the hood prior to opening, an internal over-ride device will shut the unit down. Once unlatched the unit will operate normally without a reset
Can a HoodXpress equipped hood be opened manually? YES! The unit acts as a locking device in the open or closed position serving as a security device. To open manually, you must detach the lift rod
Is the device difficult to install? NO! The unit comes with detailed step-by-step instructions for your particular vehicle. Installation involves using simple hand tools and an electric drill for attaching the lift rod to the hood (located under the name badge)
How far away can I be to activate the hood?
10-15 ft – always be aware of people & objects in your environment when operating the HoodXpress unit.
How much does the unit weigh? The complete aluminum unit weighs approximately 30 lbs.
Do I need to buy adapter plates or other items for installation? The unit comes with all necessary hardware for your power unit.
What is the product warranty? The HoodXpress is warranted for 1 year against defects in material and workmanship.

Will my key-fob open other HoodXpress powered hoods? Each key fob is coded to only work with its matched power unit.
Will the unit drain my battery? The HoodXpress unit only uses battery power while operating.
Can the HoodXpress be "re-installed" on a newly purchased tractor? The unit can be re-installed on the same model. For different models, a new mounting adapter plate may be required.
Will the HoodXpress unit raise my hood to its full extent? Yes.
What if I lose my key-fob? Replacement/spare key-fobs are available for purchase. Up to 9 separate key-fobs can be programmed per HoodXpress unit.
